Billy James Aldred, USAF (Retired)
November 07, 1935 – September 30, 2015

Billy James Aldred, born in Galax, Va., in 1935, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, in Chester, Va., after a short intense battle of a recurrence of cancer.

He was a retired veteran of 22 years in the armed forces. He proudly served in the Air Force and Army as a helicopter pilot with tours in Libya, Korea and Vietnam.

His parents were Clarence and Marie Aldred of Galax. Bill leaves his wife of 58 years, Diane Aldred; their four children, Randal Aldred, Melissa Patton, Stacey Aldred and Mari Linda Cottrell; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and extended family members.

A graveside service and burial will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Randal Aldred and Stacey Aldred officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by the Grayson VFW Post 7726.
