Harold H. Bailey, USAF (Retired)

April 28, 1936 – July 29, 2014

Mr. Harold H. “Beetle” Bailey, 78, of Harold Bailey Drive, Dewy Rose, husband of Betty Drake Bailey, finished his course in faith on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bailey was born in Pax, West Virginia, on April 28, 1936; son of the late Arlie Bailey and Ivory Shepard Bailey Hamilton and step-son of the late Ison Hamilton.

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 21 years of service. He was also retried from AlliedSignal.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Betty Drake Bailey of the home; three sons: Kenneth Bailey and his wife Christa of Bogart, Mark Bailey of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jeffrey Bailey of Lavonia; three grandchildren: John Thomas Bailey, Julia Grace Bailey, and Austyn Alexander Dixon-Bailey; sister, Lorena Kidd and her husband Rufus of Carlton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death his siblings: Edna Marie Hamilton, Eva Pauline White, and Bernard Odell Bailey.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, August 2, at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Ayers and the Rev. Joe Black officiating. Interment, with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force, will follow in the Carlton City Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
