Paul Herman Barnes, 80, of Hopkinsville, died at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at his residence.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2019 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Richard Stanley officiating.  Military Honors will be provided by the Fort Campbell Honor Guard.  Last Call honors will be given by the Hopkinsville Fire Department.

Dogwood Funerals & Cremations in Crofton is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Apex, KY, he was born August 14, 1938, a son of the late Charlie Templeton Barnes and Ilene Pearl Frey. Paul was a Senior Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force, retiring after 28 years of service to our country.  He served as  Fire Chief with the Hopkinsville Fire Department from 1982 to 1985 and after his service as fire chief, he went on to serve as an Arson Investigator with the INS, retiring after several years of service.

Paul was of the Baptist Faith, a lifetime member of VFW Lodge #1913, Elks Lodge #545, and the Masonic Lodge in Okinawa, Japan.

His survivors include: his wife, Betty Jo Barnes of Hopkinsville, KY; his sons, Paul Douglas Barnes (Monica) of Rapid City, SD, Charles Odell Barnes (Tracy) of Rapid City, SD, his daughter; Sharon “Sherry” Barnes Bond (Brett) of Hopkinsville, KY; his brothers, Charles Barnes (Annie) of Pembroke, KY, Robert Barnes of San Antonio, TX; his sister, Dorene P’Pool of Hopkinsville, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
