James Bedingfield, Sgt., USAF

James Bedingfield Las Vegas NV. passed away 06-22-2020.
He was born April 6, 1947, in Trenton NJ. To M. C. and Rose Bedingfield.

Jim graduated from North Burlington County Regional High School in 1965. Jim enlisted in the Air Force in March 1966. He completed helicopter mechanic school at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX and then was assigned to F. E. Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY. It was there where he received orders to Vietnam July 1968. Jim was sent to Nha Trang AB with the 20th Special Operation Squadron Green Hornets.

Jim spent his first few months as a mechanic and then he volunteered to become a gunner. He was then sent to Ban Me Thout where he was a gunner, crew chief and mechanic. Jim was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 2 Oak leaf cluster, Army Presidential Unit Citation and The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal with Palm.

Jim left Vietnam July 8, 1969, and he and sherry were married on July 20, 1969. Jim received a call from a former squadron commander and offered Jim a job with Southwest Gas Company in Las Vegas, where he worked for 35 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his daughter Dari Sue Harrison, parents M. C. and Rose Bedingfield. Jim is survived by grandsons Nick Harrison Las Vegas and Jake Harrison Las Vegas, brother Marty Bedingfield Whiting, NJ. Is also survived by his Brothers in Arms the 20th Special Operations Green Hornets.
