Howard C. Beury Sr., 75, of Lavelle, formerly of Primrose, Cass Township, died Saturday at Geisinger Medical Center.
Born in Butler Township, he was a son of the late Howard Beury and the late Mary Koehler Beury Wolfe.
He was a graduate of the Milton S. Hershey School. He had been employed by Goyne Pump Co. and last worked at Reneer Films retiring in 2003.
He was an eight-year veteran of the Air Force, serving during the Vietnam conflict as a helicopter crew chief. He completed his military career with the Army National Guard.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, the former Catherine Nebroskie, on Dec. 14, 2013; a grandson, Daniel Collin Purcell, in 2001; three brothers, Herman Beury, Guy Beury and Marlen Beury; two sisters, Martha Ossman and Pearl Reichwein.
Surviving are four children, Howard Beury Jr. and his fiancée, Debbie Reiter, Las Vegas, Michael Beury Sr. and his wife, Tracy, Pismo Beach, Calif., Angela Lucas and her husband, Randy, with whom he resided, and Jeanie Purcell and her husband, Henry, Minersville; eight grandchildren, Howard Beury III, Amanda Beury, Michael Beury Jr., John Matulevich Jr., Marlena Purcell, Madolyn Purcell, Dean Purcell and Marilyn Purcell; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. Friday and from 6 a.m. until the 10 a.m. services Saturday at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury St., Minersville. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Kostka No. 2 Cemetery, Branch Township. Visit www.dutcavich.com.
