Obituary of Chad Bloom

Chad Bloom died peacefully in his home Wednesday afternoon after a long fight with liver disease. He passed away in his wife’s arms and in the presence of two of his sons, Brett and Ben.

Chad proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty-three years and was most proud of his time spent with the 55th Special Operations Squadron stationed at Hurlburt Field, FL where he was a flight engineer aboard the MH60G/HH-60G Pave Hawk.

After retirement from the Air Force, he and his family joined their longtime friends Ed and Becky Sally in Middle Tennessee.

Chad is preceded in death by his father, James Bloom, and his mother, Joan Handy.

He is survived by his wife, Laura (Chema) Bloom; his sons, Brett and Ben Bloom, Nicholas Brouillard of Montana and his daughters Brandi Bloom of Indiana and Brittni Bloom of New Mexico. He is also survived by two aunts, Nancy Griggs of Florida and Marena Kuratko of Michigan.

He is preceded in death and survived by an endless list of military brothers and sisters with whom he served either physically or in spirit.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a Veterans charity of choice.

Private family services.

There will be no visitation at Murfreesboro Funeral Home

My condolences to the family. I’m sorry to hear about his passing. I did not know he was sick. He was the type of guy that inspired confidence when you jumped on the helo with them. Your loss is the country’s loss.

Chad was a proud member of the 20Th Tactical Fighter Wing, RAF Upper Heyford, UK. He was assigned to the Propulsion Branch and helped them to become one of the finest units in the USAF. He was a friend to all and could always be counted on to get the job done. On behalf of all the members of the Propulsion Branch, our deepest sympathies are with the family at this time. Godspeed Chad and Rest in Peace.

I knew Chad way back in 1980-81 time frame. I was a babysitter for Brandi. But I was more than that. I was treated more like a little sister. Chad loved his family and friends even back then. About a year ago after 40 years I found him on FB. Then last night I see that he passed away. Makes you realize and think about we are all getting older. Tomorrow is never promised go out and do what you want today. I am truly sorry for your loss. Fly high my friend and R.I.P.
