Steven Duane Brooks, Master Sgt., USAF, Retired

July 13, 1945 – April 3, 2022

Master Sgt. Steven Duane Brooks, USAF, Retired, age 76 of Union Mills died Sunday, April 3, 2022, at home with his family. He was born July 13, 1945, in Cleveland County and was a son of the late Matt Brooks and Inez Murray Brooks. Duane was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force where he served for twenty-two years.   He served honorably during the Vietnam War where he received numerous citations and commendations for meritorious service and bravery.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brother, Allen Ray Brooks in 2021.

He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Annie Brooks of the home, his son, Kevin Brooks of Union Mills, his daughter, Angela Brooks of Sumter, South Carolina, his sister, Gerri Brooks Day of Winchester, Virginia, his grandchildren, Jordan Brooks, Noah Allen Papp and Emma Grace Papp,  his nephews Steven Day, Brad Day, and his niece, Robin Brooks Miller.

A service from the graveside with military honors will be held at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday April 9, 2022, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon with Reverend Dr. Tony McCraw officiating.

A visitation will be held Saturday afternoon at The Padgett & King Mortuary from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service.
