Waldon Brockwell “Brock” Byers, Colonel, USAF (Retired)
September 19, 1931 – May 29, 2019
WALDON B. (BROCK) BYERS, born September 19, 1931, in Portland, Oregon. Joined the Air Force on June 7, 1954. Training at Hondo, Texas and Reese Air Force Base, Texas. Pilot training class 55-V.
Served with the 2750 ABW, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; 7405 Spt. Sq., WAB, Germany; 20th SOS, RVN; 341 CSG, MAFB, MT; 1st CEG, BAFB; HQ 8AF, BAFB, LA; 92 BMW, FAFB, WA.
Decorations include two Distinguished Flying Crosses, 13 Air Medals, One Meritorious Service Medal, two Air Force Commendation Medals, Purple Heart and nine others. Retired on April 1, 1980, with the rank of Colonel.
Memorable experience: Flying over 1000 combat sorties in 1968-1969 with the 20th SOS, RVN
