Thomas James Cahill Jr., Captain, USAF, (Retired)
March 04, 1969 – March 18, 2016

Capt. Thomas James Cahill Jr., U.S. Air Force (ret.), of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016. He was born March 4, 1969, to Susan Peek and Thomas Cahill Sr.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1987 and later transferred into the U.S. Air Force in 2000. Capt. Cahill was the recipient of the Silver Star Medal for his gallantry actions while serving as a Helicopter Rescue Pilot of the 66th Rescue Squadron (Enduring Freedom-Anaconda), Afghanistan, March 2002. He was also the recipient of the Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor. He retired in August 2009. Thomas earned his masters of science in aerospace engineering.

Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Cahill Sr. He is survived by his wife, Gina Nakahara-Cahill; mother, Susan Peek; children, Ryan Cahill, Scott Cahill, Lauren Ranney and Cheyane Cahill; brothers, John Wade and Michael Wade; sister, Holly Sinde; and grandson, Kashton Cahill.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday, April 4, at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas. Services will follow at 1:20 p.m., at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.

Thomas will be remembered for his valiant heroism during the global war on terrorism for which he saved many lives.
