Entered Air Force in 1960 as an Aviation Cadet, Class 61-G2 (The last Aviation Class). Primary training at Bainbridge Air Base, GA (T-34 & T-37); Basic training at Vance AFB, OK (T-33); Helicopter training at Stead AFB, NV (H-19, H-21, H-43). Stateside LBR detachments and Vietnam assignment. Detachment Commander Detachment 13 WARC, Reese AFB, TX (1965-1966). Support coverage for SR-71 crash near Tucumcari, NM Jan, 1966.

1962 – 1963 with Det. 45, EARC at Pease AFB, NH.

1963 – 1964 with Det. 41, EARC, at Loring AFB, ME.

1964 – 1965 with Det. 6, 38th ARRS at Bien Hoa AB, RVN.

1965 – 1966 with Det. 13, WARC, at Reese AFB, TX.
