Floyd A. Durham, Major, USAF (Retired)

January 24, 1936 – February 12, 2022

Coral Gables, Florida – Floyd Durham passed away February 12, 2022 in Coral Gables. He was born in Akron, Ohio on January 24, 1936 to the late Floyd S. and Reva Eagon Durham.

Mr. Durham was a graduate of Kent State University High School and University of Miami. He was a Major in the Air Force. He served in Vietnam, flying helicopters, air rescue and as an Instructor Pilot. He continued his love of flying with United Airlines where he retired after 28 years of service. Floyd enjoyed life and found many interests along the way, antique cars, model trains, sailing, and skiing. He was a member of Coral Reef Yacht Club, Quiet Birdmen, and Beach Colony Club.

He will be fondly remembered by his loving wife of 61 years, Carolyn York Durham; son, Steven Durham; sister, Caryl Mosier; brother, Larry Durham and sister-in-law, Frances York Reid.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Scott Durham.

A funeral service was held February 20 in Mount Airy, N. C. at Moody Chapel. Burial followed at Oakdale Cemetery with full military honors. A reception was held at the N.C. home.
