Wayne Carver “Mickey” Dwyer, USAF

Wayne “Mickey” Carver Dwyer, 63, of Drakesboro, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 10:43AM at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Mr. Dwyer was a retired unit operator with TVA and a member of Woodland Baptist Church. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force and a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an active lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had served as post commander of the Local Post 5478 and as Kentucky State Commander. Mickey was a lifetime member of the Cooties and volunteered as a Veterans Service Officer. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles D. Dwyer Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Doris Hammers Dwyer; a son, Wesley Scott (Margie) Dwyer of Rochester; a daughter, Stephanie Dwyer Fortney of Drakesboro; grandchildren Andrew Fortney, Laura Fortney McGehee, Melissa Fortney, James Miller, Justin Miller, Austin Dwyer, Summer Dwyer, Jaden Fortney, and Kristina Fortney; a great-grandchild, Bristol Avery McGehee; his mother, Ruby Dwyer of Greenville; brothers Charles “Buddy” Dwyer Jr. of Washington and Terry Dwyer of Greenville; and a sister, Becky Wright of Greenville.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Leigh’s Chapel Church in Greenville, with Rev. Roger Wright officiating. Burial in Jackson Cemetery in Greenville.
