John J. Eldridge

CMSgt. John J. Eldridge USAF Ret., 63 of Breese, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at his residence.

He was born March 23, 1945, at Elkin, NC., the son of Lillian Caudill. On Sept. 21, 1974, he married Glenna Norris at Clearfield, Utah.

John served in the Vietnam War. He was a Pararescueman and received two Silver Star Medals and 12 Bronze Star Medals. John retired from Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a member of American Legion Post 252 in Breese and the VFW in Alaska.

Survivors include his stepfather, Brice (Rebecca) Gauldin of Dunn, NC.; his children, Jill (Jeff) Pingsterhaus of Germantown, Robert (Krystal) Eldridge and Michael (Wendi) Eldridge of Anchorage, Alaska and Glenna Eldridge of Breese; four groundchildren, Vanessa and Matt Pingsterhaus, Meagan Insalaco and Ashlyn Eldridge; a brother, Mike Gauldin of Florida; and a sister, Shirley Monday of Sacramento, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Tommy Gauldin; and his maternal grandparents, Florence and Thomas Caudill, who helped raise him.

The family will greet other family members and friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday at Moss Funeral Home in Breese. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
