Fricsons, Erik – IL
Captain Erik Fricsons is Deputy Branch Chief Logistics with Headquarters AMC Strategic Plans, Requirements, and Programs Directorate, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He leads and directs daily operations for Acquisitions and Logistics of several Air Force programs including C-5, JCA, LIMA, JFTL, C-17, C-27, C-130, KC-X and Presidential Aircraft Requirements programs. He is responsible for ensuring the Acquisition and Logistical support of Air Mobility Command Aircraft to ensure a high state of combat readiness to support Air Mobility Command and United States Transportation Command immediate and sustained cargo and refueling operations. Prior to his current assignment Captain Fricsons was an Assistant Director of Operations, Communications Officer, C-17/KC-10/Enroute aircraft Group Maintenance Operations Officer and an AMU Asst. OIC for two KC-10 AMU’s which included several extended periods of being the OIC for the AMU’s.
Captain Fricsons, raised in Dayton, Ohio, received his commission upon graduating from Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, AL. During his prior enlistment he completed initial C-141 and heavy airlift technical school in 1990. Captain Fricsons deployed several times in support of operations DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM. In 1992 Captain Fricsons was one of the initial cadre to attend C-17 technical training. In 1993 Captain Fricsons cross-trained into the Helicopter Flight Engineer career field and served as an MH53J/M PAVELOW flight engineer from 1993 to 2004 as an instructor and flight evaluator. Captain Fricsons was also one of the initial cadre on the MH53M IDAS/MATT modified PAVELOW helicopters. Captain Fricsons has over 100 combat hours in operations over Bosnia, Kosovo, and Iraq. Deployments include OPERATIONS JOINT ENDEAVOR, ENDURING FREEDOM, PROVIDE COMFORT, ALLIED FORCE and many others. Additional duties included supply, scheduling, training, mobility and current operations. He has experience on over 6 weapons systems including C-141B, C-5, C-17, MH-53J/M, C-130 and several civilian aircraft. Captain Fricsons also is fluent in the Latvian language and has helped with translation duties during joint operations in the past.
