Ross Stanley Gassaway, USAF (Retired)
November 17, 1947 – January 28, 2015
Ross S. Gassaway of Grants Pass, OR, passed away on January 28, 2015. He died at his home of natural causes. He was 67 years old.
Ross had retired three weeks prior from his position as CEO at Grants Pass Clinic.
Ross was of Shasta Indian heritage born and raised in Mt. Shasta, CA. From there he went on to travel the world as he served in the US Air Force for 24 years. He was a two time Vietnam Veteran during which he served as a helicopter medic and then physician’s assistant.
From there through hard work and dedication, he received his triple master’s degree at Golden Gate University. Ross went on to become the CEO and Vice President of Sutter North Medical Foundation, then as CEO at Desert Valley Medical.
Ross is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years Sandra Kay Gassaway. Their love was that of a fairy tale, proving that although rare in this day and age, true love still exists.
He is survived by his and Sandra’s two daughters Michelle Westin and Tracy Gassaway Swartz; along with his brother Grant Gassaway; his grandchildren Cammie Timmons, Tyler Swartz, Sandra and Sarah Weston and great granddaughter Kelsie Timmons.
Ross is also preceded in death by his parents Ross and Pauline Gassaway and Sister Paula Gassaway – Hayward.
A funeral will be held for Ross at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Shasta on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Committal service at graveside with military honors to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .
