Robyn Francis Goodman, Major, USAF (Retired)

August 17, 1929 – November 19, 2021

Robyn Francis Goodman, 92, of Missoula, passed away peacefully at his home on November 19, 2021. Robyn was born August 17, 1929 to John and Maude Goodman in Riverton, Wyoming. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a helicopter medic in Korea during the late stages of the Korean War. He continued to serve his country after the war, with assignments in Alabama, Louisiana, Montana, Texas, Greenland and the Philippines, completing college and earning a commission along the way, and retired from the Air Force in 1970 with the rank of Major. He moved back to Montana after retiring and worked for 15 years as the medical purchasing agent at Saint Patricks Hospital, retiring from there in 1985.

Rob met the love of his life, Beverly Marquess, in Sheridan, Wyoming and they were married in 1954. Together, they raised 4 children, Becky, Randi, Steve and Nancy.

Rob was a social man who loved meeting new people and was active in the Elks Lodge, Friends of the Library, and worked part-time at the fairgrounds for a number of years. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially those that involved others. He was a life-long barber-shopper, singing in barbershop choruses and quartets everywhere he lived, as well as teaching barbershop songs to the kids on long car rides. His barbershop quartet, Deluxe Edition, participated in the National Finals in Philadelphia, Pa. In later years, he was a member of a senior bowling league and continued to do volunteer work for the Elks and VFW whenever he could, as well as reading for the blind. He was also an accomplished artist and painter and produced many beautiful and cherished paintings and drawings. He also enjoyed many camping trips with his family.

Robyn leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Beverly, daughters Becky (Jeff) Royal, Randi (Bill) Cuny, Nancy (Jody) Martin, son Steve (Ann) Goodman, and grandchildren Chloe Goodman, Keenan Goodman, Elias (Chandra) Martin, and Mariah (Jimmy) Weichel. He is also survived by his sister Caroline Shipp and brother Richard Goodman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maude, sister Oralyn Hahn, brother Tommy Goodman, and by his infant son, Michael Goodman.

All the family pets gravitated to Robyn, and he will also be missed by Chester, Darcy, Xena, Cody, Luna and wee Zorro.

Robyn was a gentle, loving, grateful and sweet man with a quick sense of humor and a deep love for his family. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. He will be interred at the Montana Veteran’s Cemetery.
