Wytheville – The funeral for Air Force Maj. Robert Copenhaver Gordon, 36, who was killed Monday in a helicopter at Perrin AFB, Tex., will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church with burial in West End Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Francis Gordon, Perrin; three daughters, Miss Deborah Gordon, Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Miss Denise Gorgon, Perrin, Miss Dawn Gordon, Perrin; two sons, Robert Gordon, Richard Gordon, Perrin; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Gordon, Wytheville; a brother, Capt. Daniel H. Gordon, Vietnam.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.
Barnett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Maj. Gordon served a tour in the Vietnam War as a HH-43F pilot with Det. 9, 39th ARRS in the 1969-1970-time frame.

2 Airmen Die In Helicopter Crash
Denison, Tex. (AP) – Two Air Force men were killed Monday when their helicopter crashed and burned on a routine training flight.
Killed were Maj. Robert C. Gordon, 36 of Wythville, VA., and SSgt. Weldon D. Davenport of Rockdale, both stationed at Perrin Air Force Base here.
A Air Force spokesman said the helicopter crashed three miles northwest of the base.
