James H. Grady, Lt. Colonel, USAF (Retired)
October 13, 1927 – April 15, 2012
Monday, April 23, 2012, James Grady, 84, of Flat Rock Community passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. The son of Hugh and Keitha Grady, he was born Oct. 13, 1927, in North Hartland, N.Y. He married Sandra Shaw Grady on June 3, 1951, in Scarsdale, N.Y.
Jim graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1951 and took a commission in the U.S. Air Force. He served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Among his awards and decorations are the Silver Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with gold star, Air medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He was a talented wood craftsman and enjoyed gardening, fishing, rowing and flying.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joseph Grady; and brother, Hugh Grady. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Grady; four children, Keitha Brannick and husband Michael of Flat Rock Community, James Grady Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Thompson Grady and wife Lorie of Bonanza and Lynn Grady of Texarkana, Texas; three grandchildren, James Brannick and wife Sharon of Wylie, Texas, David Brannick and Daniel Brannick, both of Flat Rock Community; three great-grandchildren, Sean, Ben and Chris Brannick, all of Wylie, Texas; and brother, Jack Grady of New Hampshire.
A visitation will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Humphrey Funeral Service with military honors to follow. Memorials may be made to the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation, Class of 1951, P.O. Box 79169, Baltimore, MD 21298-8838.

Lt. Colonel Grady served a tour in the Vietnam War as a HH-3E pilot with the 37th ARRS in the 1968-1969-time frame.
