HH-43B #59-1546 from Det. 41, EARC at Loring AFB, ME., crewed by Capt Richard Phadenhauer (P), Capt James Black (CP), SSgt. Robert J. Watson (FE) and A1C Russell Wilkerson (FF), A1C Bobby Mixon, and SSgt. Robert McMahon, made a forced landing, due to engine failure, in heavy woods 1 1/2 miles north of the Caswell Radar Station. SSgt. Watson suffered back injuries, described as “not too severe”, none of the other five onboard were injured. No other details are known at this time.
