Richard Cresswell Harris, SSgt., USAF

February 09, 1945 – December 22, 2013

Richard Cresswell Harris, 68, of St. Petersburg, Fla., passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was a U.S. Air Force helicopter crew chief in the Strategic Air Command and a Vietnam combat veteran.

He owned his own plumbing company, R.C. Harris & Son, doing new construction in Virginia before moving to Florida in 1988. In Florida, he owned American Dream and All Stars Realty. He was past president of Seminole Fraternal Order of Eagles 4147 and a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Richard enjoyed bass fishing, camping, traveling, bowling and dancing. He loved people and doing for others. He will be sorely missed.

Surviving are his loving wife, Sandra Crowe Harris; daughter Dawn; son Rob; grandchildren Grace, Drew, Garrett, Gabrielle and Shannon; and sisters Althea Woodard and Sylvia English.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at 6 p.m., with visitation beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, St. Petersburg.
