Heinrich “Heinz” J. Herber of Greenwich, CT, died peacefully at age 76 on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at West Haven Veteran’s Hospital with his family by his side.
Heinz was born on September 17, 1939 in Friedrichssegen, Germany and moved to the United States and joined the U.S. Air Force as a helicopter mechanic and served from 1962-1966.
Heinz was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed wood working. He was a member of the Byram Veteran’s Club. Heinz is survived his wife, Sherry, daughter Heidi and her husband Keith of Stratford, son Richard of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; two brothers, Richard and his wife Carla, and Siegfried and his wife Anni, of Germany, as well as two granddaughters, Lindsay and Brianne of Stratford whom he loved very much; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins in Germany.
