I went in the USAF in 1980 and was stationed in NM., at Kirkland AFB. I worked HH-3 for a couple of years there then went to Osan air base HH-3 in S. Korea for a year then off to Hawaii for a 4 year tour but was cut in half due to the mission they closed down the test group HH-53 6594th I think. We made the longest over water rescue while I was there.
Back to NM., Kirkland HH-53J. I went to finish out my 8 years of the USAF. Met my wife Julie in NM., the first tour and we married before I went to Korea and we are still married today. We had one son Cory he is 21 now and a junior attending university of north Texas in Denton, TX.
I got out of the USAF in 1988 and went to work for American Airlines as a A & P mechanic and lived in Tulsa, OK., for 2 years then moved to Justin, TX. and lived there for 15 years.
After trying for 4 years I just got a job with the FAA as an Aviation Safety Inspector in Memphis, TN. I grew up close to Memphis so it’s nice to be home.
I met a lot of great people while I was in the service and wouldn’t trade any of the friends and memories for anything.
