Bobby S. Lay, Lt. Colonel, USAF (Retired)
April 10, 1930 – February 03, 2003
Bobby Shepard Lay, widower of Helen Cain Lay, died Feb. 3, 2003. Born in Oconee County, he was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and was a 26-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Surviving are his brothers, sisters, two sons; and three grandsons. There will be no service. Memorials may be made to Kidney Foundation. – Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home.

Major Lay served a Vietnam War tour as a HH-43F pilot with Det. 2 & 9, 38th ARRS in the 1970-1971-time frame.
