Glynn A. McGregor, Major, USAF (Retired)
June 21. 1938 – January 26, 2013

Glynn Alfred McGregor, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at his home after a short illness. Celebration of life: 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel, followed by a reception at Ridglea Country Club. Interment: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, 75211. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Kidney Foundation in the name of Stacey McGregor Sisco, www.kidneyfund.org

Glynn grew up in Azle, and after his high school graduation he attended the University of North Texas. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial arts and math, he was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force and retired 21 years later. Early in his career, he flew large transport aircraft and later flew helicopters for the Air Rescue Service. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for rescue missions in Vietnam. Other decorations in addition to the DFC’s were two Air Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal and The Commendation Medal. In addition to a bachelor’s degree, he received his master’s degree from Troy State and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Lockheed Martin at NAS Corpus Christi for 25 years training aspiring Navy pilots in simulators. Glynn was active in several organizations. He was past president in the Azle Ex-Students Association, his high school class, CMF group of his church, president of the Riverwood Homeowners Association and also a member of the DFC Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Louis A. and Christine McGregor of Austin. Survivors: Glynn is survived by his wife, Willow McGregor; sons, Cary A. and wife, MaryAnn, of Austin and Glynn Alan and wife, Gwynn, of Colleyville; daughters, Stacey A. Sisco and Jeff Sisco, of Bedford and Rebecca A. Peart and husband, Brian, of Fort Worth; brother, Kim and wife, Pam, of Austin; grandchildren, Jake, Adam, Michael and Molly McGregor of Austin, Rob and Chris McGregor of Colleyville, Joseph Sisco of Haslet, and Mac, Madie and Mason Peart of Fort Worth.

Capt. McGregor served in the Vietnam War as a HH-43F pilot with Det. 5, 38th ARRS in the 1969/1970 time frame.
