Charles G. “Chuck” Moinichen, USAF

Charles G. “Chuck” Moinichen passed away on December 20, 2018 In St. Paul, MN, at the age of 79 He was born on March 7, 1939, in Duluth, MN, to Henry and Helen Keop Moinichen.

After the passing of his father, Helen married Leo Turchin of Vining, Minnesota, where he grew up.

Chuck served in the Air Force as a helicopter mechanic from 1961 to 1965.

He married Sandra Suits on September 18, 1965.

He worked for and retired from Minnesota Mutual/Securian after 34 years as a disaster recovery specialist. Charles is survived by his wife, Sandi; three sons; Greg (Michel) of Cottage Grove, MN; Pat of St. Paul; and Tim (Becca Splichal) of St. Paul; five grandchildren; Kristi (Matt) Pikala; Marissa, Zach, Justin and Nico Moinichen; and two great-grandsons Brody and Grayson Pikala. Brothers Roger (Nancy) Moinichen, Richard (Jan) Turchin, Robert (Leeann) Turchin, Ronald (Laurie) Turchin, Russell (Lanette) Turchin; Sisters Linda (Gary) Waskosky, Shirley (Gary) Wallace and Sue (Duane) Schmidt. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was loved by many and known for his sense of humor. He loved talking with the children and making jokes. He loved cars and the outdoors. Deer hunting with sons and his family was an annual ritual. Most of all, Chuck loved Carbone’s pizza.

Memorial service Thursday, January 3rd 10:30 AM at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Stanford & Prior Aves., Visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Private Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or Our Lady of Peace 651-698-0796
