Hugh “Monty” Montgomery

1952, at Sampson AFB, NY. for Basic training.

1952, at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX. for Aircraft Mech school.

1952, at San Marcos AFB, TX. to attended Helicopter Mechanic School on the H-19’s.  

1953, Sent to Clark AFB with the 581st Air Resupply Sqdn.(by mistake). The helicopters were all in Korea so I worked on SA-16 aircraft until they finally got me to Korea. 

1953, I was transferred to 3rd Air Rescue when the 581st was deactivated, where I was a crew chief on H-19 tail number 51-3884.

After Korea was sent to Westover AFB, Mass.

Transferred to San Marcus AFB where I was discharged from the Air Force where I filled my own position in Civil Service.

I retired from Civil Service at Fort Hood, TX.

I worked on H-53’s, H-21’s, Hueys and Cobras while in Civil Service.
