Jimmy D. Moore, Lt. Colonel, USAF (Retired)
April 11, 1933 – October 19, 1996

CAMPI, LA. – Graveside services for Colonel Jimmy Doyle Moore, 63, of 308 Cloud Crossing Road, Campti, LA. will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, 1996, at Strange Cemetery, Readhimer, LA. with full military honors. Officiating will be Rev. Charlie Bates. Arrangements are under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA.

Colonel Moore died Saturday, October 19, 1996, at the V. A. Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Natchitoches Parish. He was a graduate of Homer High School and La. Tech University in Ruston, LA. He was a Colonel in the Air Force and flew helicopters in the Vietnam War. He saved 52 American Soldiers and received 29 decorations plus a Purple Heart and a Silver Star. He retired January 1972. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nelda Smothers Moore of Campti, LA.: two daughters, Miria Moore of Miami, Florida, Jamianne Moore of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina: and father, Mr. Doyle Moore of Saline, LA.

Pallbearers will be members of the military.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 22, 1996, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA.

Major Jimmy D. Moore served in the Vietnam War as a HH-53B/C pilot with the 40th ARRS in the 1969-time frame.
