Loran M. Nichols, Major, USAF (Retired)
April 29, 1932 – February 22, 2010
Maj. Loran Marcel (Mock) Nichols, USAF (Ret.), 77, of Visalia lost his battle with cancer on Monday, February 22, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
A graveside service will be held at Exeter Public Cemetery on Friday, February 26, 2010, at 10:00 AM. There will be a Memorial Services at the Church of Latter-Day Saints, 650 Lovers Lane, Visalia CA at 11:30 AM. Services are under the direction of Evans Miller Guinn Chapel located at 425 North Kaweah in Exeter.
He was born April 29, 1932, in Shirley Arkansas to Lawrence Mortimer and Mary Ellen Mahaney Nichols.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Christine Nichols. He is survived by his children Mike, Stan and Christie Shows and David Nichols.
Major Nichols was a Fighter and Helicopter pilot and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Major Nichols was the recipient of the Bronze Star as well as decorated for saving almost 300 down pilots while serving as the commander of Detachment 7 in Da Nang. He retired in 1971 to Visalia and will be missed by all who knew him.

Major Loran M. Nichols served in the Vietnam War as a HH-43F pilot with Det. 7, 38th ARRS in the 1969-1970-time frame.
