Terry Lee O’Donnell, USAF (Retired)

February 12, 1945 – June 17, 2021

Roanoke, Virginia – Terry Lee O’Donnell, age 76, of Cloverdale, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Terry was born on February 12, 1945 in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.

He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having served in Vietnam as a door gunner and crew chief and was awarded the Airman’s Award for Bravery. Terry later served in the US Army Reserves and retired from the United States Government with 30 years of service.

He loved old antique Chevrolet cars and would buy, restore and resale them. Terry also had a very keen sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alexander O’Donnell and a sister-in-law, Edna O’Donnell.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sharon Semones O’Donnell; a daughter, Erin O’Donnell Verrecchio; three brothers, Charles “Butch” O’Donnell, Richard E. O’Donnell and his wife Susan, and John G. O’Donnell; a sister, Joanne Willis and her partner Mike Reed; a stepson, Brian C. McGowan and his wife Katie; a step granddaughter, Sharise McGowan; a brother-in-law, Charles Semones and his wife Karen; and by his constant companion and family pet, his dog Daisy. Also, Terry is survived by his Brothers-In-Arms of the 20th Special Operations Helicopter Squadron, Green Hornets.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or to a Local Animal or Rescue Shelter.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 t Oakey’s East Chapel, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are by Oakey’s East Chapel (540-977-3909). Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.oakeys.com
