Bernard J Prairie, 51, The (Memphis, TN) – Sunday, December 8, 1996,
BERNARD J. PRAIRIE, 51, of Germantown, pilot for Federal Express, died of cancer Friday at his home.
Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where he was a communicant, with burial in St. Amadeus Cemetery in Alburg, Vt. Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge.
He was a captain in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and received the Distinguished Flying Cross medal.
He leaves a sister, Suzanne Herrick of Bay Shore, N.Y., and three brothers, Peter Prairie of Philadelphia, Pa., Paul Prairie of Grand Isle, Vt., and Maurice Prairie of Germantown.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, any memorials be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Captain Bernard “Bernie” Joseph Prairie served a tour in the Vietnam War as a CH-53C pilot with the 21st SOS at Nakhon Phanom RTAFB, Thailand in the 1970-1971 time-frame.
