Richard Stearns Reed, USAF (Retired)

February 11, 1941 – November 24, 2021

Richard Stearns Reed, 80, of Victor passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

He was born February 11, 1941, in Missoula Montana, the son of Stearns A. and Wilma (Brookins) Reed.

Richard married his wife Heide (Muller) Reed on 14 December 1971 in Germany.

Richard was raised in Victor, Montana and attended his grade school years in Victor and Graduated from Corvallis High School in 1960. Soon after high school, Richard Joined the United States Air Force and served his Country for 21 years. During his service in the United State Air Force, he was stationed in different bases in the United States, Spain, Germany and in Okinawa, Japan. His military occupational specialties were air policeman, helicopter mechanic technician and veterinary technician. He retired honorably from the United States Air Force in 1981. After his retirement he worked for the United States Forest Service here in western Montana for 14 years. Richard was proud of his Native American heritage (Shoshone). He was a member of the Warrior Society Color Guard for many years and participated in many Pow Wows throughout Western Montana. He was a proud man and loved by many. Richard will be truly missed.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Stearns and Wilma Reed, a sister Amorita Laffoon and brother Clifford Reed.

Richard Survived by his wife Heide of 49+ years, a sister Jeannette and (John) Ritchy of Green Bay WI, children: R. Scott and (Kaliko) Reed of Meridian ID, Tina and (Shaun) Crosby of St George, UT. and Richard Reed of Victor, MT. Grandchildren: Jessica, David, Daniel, Brittany, Chanda, Dillon, Karina, Dalton, Izaiah, Andrew, Lara and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Victor Community church March 15, 2022, time to be determined. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
