Bruce Knowles Roberts. Lt. Colonel, USAF (Retired)

Bruce Roberts Times-Herald (Vallejo, CA) – Wednesday, January 21, 2004 Bruce Knowles Roberts, 61, died Monday at his home in Vallejo after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was born in Long Island, N.Y., and was a Vallejo resident.
Mr. Roberts served for 20 years as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1989. He flew helicopter missions in Vietnam and later flew C-141s when stationed in the United States.
After his military retirement, he worked for 12 years as an Federal Aviation Administration safety inspector at United Airlines in San Francisco, retiring in December 1999.
He was member of the United Church of Christ in Vallejo. He was a man with a big heart who loved and cared deeply for his family. He enjoyed traveling with wife, Evangelina, and he especially loved to cook and shop for her and his family.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Evangelina of Vallejo; daughter, Barbara (Chad) Ryan of Florida; stepdaughters, Christina Richard of Vallejo, Marilyn Richards, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and Marissa Richards, serving in the U.S. Navy; his son, Bruce Jr. (Bridget) of Hawaii; brother, James (Val) of New York; and one grandchild, Skyler Ryan. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with a funeral at 5 p.m. Sunday, at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
