Basic Training at Lackland AFB then assigned to Sheppard AFB for tech school, helicopter mechanic. On graduation, assigned to the CH-3 pilot training squadron at Sheppard.

Volunteered for Viet Nam and received orders for the 20th SOS. Became assistant crew chief for Staff Sergeant John Thorburn, who had also been in my tech school class. John was on flying status as crew chief/door gunner. After he was injured in action and returned to state side, I worked with Crew Chief Ed Joy.

While at Tuy Hoa and BMT, I would assist in training exercises with the flight crews.

After the 20th SOS, I gained flying status and Crew Chief on HH-43B at Cannon AFB.

Honorable Discharge May 5, 1972.
