Alonza “Al” Slaughter, Master Sergeant, USAF (Retired)

April 27, 1956 – May 30, 2021

Alonza Louis Slaughter, 65, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, passed away on May 30th, 2021 at the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center.

He was born April 27th 1956 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to Hudman and Barbara Slaughter. He was a brother to Pamela Blackwell and Rhonda Winchester. He fathered two beautiful children, Rhonda and Allison Slaughter. In 2013, he married his love, Ellen Solis.

Alonza joined the United States Air Force in 1975 and earned the rank of Master Sergeant prior to his retirement in 1996 after 22 years of service. In 2003, Alonza graduated from the College of Southern Nevada with an Associate’s degree in Hotel Management. After his retirement from the military, Alonza worked as a restaurant manager at various institutions around the valley.

Alonza loved being with his family, restoring and collecting old cars, listening to and playing music, and sharing the word of God. Alonza had a kind and generous nature. He impacted the lives of many and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Slaughter; his daughters, Rhonda and Allison Slaughter; his sisters, Pamela Blackwell (Melvin) and Rhonda Winchester; his special relative, Aunt Bertha Copeland; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Alonza’s funeral service will be held at 8:30am at Palm Eastern Mortuary. His burial will be held at 10:40am at the Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
