John P. Smariga, Major, USAF (Retired)

SMARIGA , John Paul 77, of Tucson, died October 6, 2008. Born February 2, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York.

He served in the Viet Nam War and retired as a Major from the United States Air Force. After retiring from the military, he was employed by Hughes Aircraft.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma. Survived by his son, John, daughters, Magda and Cynthia and granddaughters, Angela, Brianna and Norma.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, October 10, 2008, at 1000 a.m., at St. Francis De Sales Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to a charity of your choice.

Capt. Smariga served in the Vietnam War as a HH-43F pilot with Det. 8, 38th ARRS in the 1968-1969-time frame.
