James E. Smith served in the USAF as a SSgt., HH-3E flight engineer, in Vietnam with the 37^th ARRS in the 1969-1970 time frame. James is known to have been awarded the Silver Star and two Distinguished Flying Cross medals for his combat service.

James is being cremated.There will be Celebration of Life at their VFW the last Sunday in February. (February 27, 2021)
