Richard H. Smith, Lt. Colonel, USAF (Retired)
July 21, 1932 – November 24, 2021
Lt. Col. Richard (Dick) H. Smith, USAF Ret., July 11, 1932 – November 24, 2021 from Palm Beach/Martin Counties, FL, has passed on from life on Earth to the next chapter in his life.
Dick was predeceased by his wife Emmy Smith, his parents Rowland and Emily Smith, and his siblings Betty Sparkman, Rowland Jr., and Raymond.
He is survived by his sister Janet Slimak and by his six children Cindy Smigay, Liz Dailey, Kathy Marino, Karen Bernhard, Kyle Sizemore and Richard Jr.; ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.
Dick was a career Air Force officer and rescue helicopter pilot and was a loving parent, grandparent and great grandparent.
Dick and Emmy both grew up on Five Mile River Road in Darien, Connecticut and graduated from Darien High School. After college they began an Air Force life that lasted twenty-two years and allowed them to travel the US and around the world. They retired to Wellington, Florida in 1977.
