Steven Lee Stover, MSgt., USAF (Retired)
October 22, 1945 – June 10, 2024

Stephen “Smokey” Lee Stover, age 78, Milton FL went to be with his Lord June 10, 2024.
He was born October 22, 1945, Rogers, Arkansas to Ralph Lee and Lydia Cannady Stover.

He played football in high school and was awarded Most Valuable Player his senior year. After graduation in May of 1966, Steve enlisted in the USAF in September where he served 21 years as a helicopter technician. He earned his Enlisted Aircrew Badge and with his wings he served his country by flying missions and maintaining many different types of helicopters all over the world. He served multiple tours in Vietnam. He supported operations in Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, Korea and many other places he could not mention. His bravery and service earned him two air medals, two commendations medals and the Meritorious Service Medal along with a presidential unit citation. He retired as MSGT in Sept 1987 from active duty but continued supporting his country serving as a military contractor for another 20 years providing 4 decades of support to the nation.
He was a member of Billory Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and groundskeeper until his health declined.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Lee and Lydia Cannady Stover; three brothers, Erman, Harold, and Michael Joe; two sisters, Etta Scott and Rosa Marie Wise; niece, Lila Stover.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, LaQuita Corrine Stover; sons, Terrence Lee and Jason Alan (Autum) Stover; Two grandsons, Luke Alan and Eli James Stover; one sister, Jewell Jones; nephews, Freddie (Patsy) Jones, David (Barbara) Wise, Russell (Michelle) Stover; nieces; Pat (David) Wiper, Carol (Tony) Smith, Connie (John) Rogers, Heather Perce, Deb (David) Brewer, Linda (Doug) Hurt, Sherri Wise, Twila (Rusty) Hill, and Traci Jones.

A Funeral Service will be held on June 22, 2024, at Billory Baptist Church 8162 Stillwater Cove Navarre, Florida 32566, with visitation from 2:00-3:00pm and service at 3:00pm.
A Committal Service will be held on Monday 24, 2024 at 2:00pm at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road Pensacola, Florida 32508. The procession will meet no later than 1:30 at Olive Baptist Church- Warrington Campus 103 West Winthrop Avenue Pensacola, Florida 32507.
Pallbearers are Nick Billings, Jacob Gault, Joe Hays, Michael Longmire, Rob Marquess, and Jim White.

In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made in Steve’s name to Billory’s food pantry, American Cancer Society or Heart Association.

Steven Lee Stover served a tour in the Vietnam War as a UH-1N/P flight engineer with the 20th SOS “Green Hornets” in the 1971 time frame.
