Gary Thomson, USAFDecember 19, 1942 – June 19, 2011
THOMSON, Rev. Gary – 68 of Holmen, Wis., passed away at his home on Sunday, June 19, 2011 following a long illness.
He was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada on December 19, 1942 to Victor and Elsie (Aiken) Thomson. He married Barbara Lawson in Kingston on June 17, 1967.
Gary has served as a helicopter rescue medic in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he continued his education at Spring Arbor College in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
Gary had served as an ordained minister with the Wisconsin and Northern Michigan District, Assemblies of God. His ministry included traveling as an evangelist throughout Canada, the Midwest United States, Mexico, Chili, Poland and England. He served as Minister of Evangelism, at Oak Creek Assembly of God, Pastor of Evangel Assembly of God in Madison, Wis. and Pastor of Madison Evangelical Center, also in Madison, Wis.
In addition to his wife Barbara of Holmen, he is survived by his two sons; Jeff (Tamra) Thomson of Holmen, Roger (Julie) Thomson of Kyle, TX., six granddaughters and one sister Diane Gray of Kingston, Ontario. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at River Of Life Assembly of God. Rev. Jeff Thomson will officiate. Following the services, friends are invited to join the family for a time of fellowship at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the River Of Life Assembly of God Building fund; 1214 Co. Rd. PH; Onalaska, Wis. 54650.
