Richard William Turner, USAF (Retired)
October 26, 1942 – June 17, 2017

OKEECHOBEE – Richard William Turner died Jun. 17, 2017. He was born Oct. 26, 1942, in Akron, Ohio. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force he continued his service as a civil service Assistant Fire Chief at Shaw Air Force Base South Carolina. A resident of Okeechobee for three years, he was a member of the VFW Post 9528 in Buckhead Ridge and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Mr. Turner is survived by his wife of 14 years Paula Turner of Okeechobee; and his children, Traci Turner of Tucson, Ariz., Chrissy Stagg of New Berlin, Wis., and Jessica Watford of Sumter, S.C. He is also survived by grandchildren, Morgan, Abby, Jackson, Bryce, and Payton; as well as his brother, Michael Turner from Akron.

Memorial services will be held in Sumter, South Carolina at the Shaw Air Force Base.
