Henry E. Wallace, Lt. Colonel, USAF (Retired)
November 04, 1934 – December 16, 2005

Henry Wallace passed away at his home in Eagle on Dec. 16, 2005.

Henry was born in Ratler, Texas, and raised in Miami, Ariz., where he met and married his wife of 50 years, Georgia “Gus” Woodburn Wallace.

Following graduation from Arizona State University in 1957 with a commission in the U.S. Air Force, he completed pilot training and spent 22 years serving in various flying and command situations. He retired in 1979, spent four years in Washington, and moved to Eagle in 1983.

Following retirement, Henry spent his time focusing on his greatest joy in life, his family. With his friendly and open manner, he provided a model of integrity, kindness, involvement, and humor for everyone in his circle of contact. He will always be a presence with those he left behind.

Survivors include his wife; daughters Lori (Mark) Taylor and Tina Wallace; sister Pat (Howard) Baldwin; brother Wade (Gladys) Wallace; sister-in-law Lee (Mark) Stevenson; nephews James (Kim) and Grant; and grandchildren Ben and Jack Taylor.

In the spring, the family will have a memorial service in Arizona on the ranch where he was raised. The family requests donations be made to the Vail Valley Mountain Hospice, P.O. Box 40000, Vail, CO 81658 or the Shaw Regional Cancer Center, 322 Beard Creek Road, Edwards, CO 81632.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Farnum-Holt Funeral Home.

Captain Wallace served in the Vietnam War as a HH-43B/F pilot with Det. 4, 38th ARRS in the 1965-1966-time frame.
