Maurice L. Wells, Major, USAF (Retired)

Major Maurice L. “Blackie” Wells, U.S. Air Force (retired), 71, died Monday, September 29, 1997, in Wichita, Kansas.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 2, 1997, at 10:00 a.m. at the Air Force Academy Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Monday, October 6, 1997.
Major Wells was born Saturday, June 5, 1926 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to William Lee and Ethel (Carson) Wells.
He served in the Air Force and retired from the United States Air Force and USD 260. He was a member of the Lions Club as a Mason, Daedalians, National Order of Military Pilots, the Air Force Association, and the Retired Officers Association.
He was married to Dorothy J. (Womack) Wells. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; four sons, Kris Wells of Indianapolis, IN, Mark Wells of Monument, CO, Bruce Wells of Washington D.C., and Tim Wells of Norwood, PA; one daughter, Flora Wisner of Derby, KS; six grandchildren.

Major Wells served in the Vietnam War as a HH-3E pilot with Det. 1 & Det. 2, 37th ARRS in the 1967-time frame.
