Alma L. Williams, Lt. Colonel, USAF (Retired)
December 30, 1933 – March 20, 2006
Williams, Alma Leon “Al”, Of Duncanville passed away March 20, 2006. He was born December 30, 1933, in Geary, Oklahoma to Ormsby Haney Williams, Sr. and Lillie Mae Cranfill Williams.
Retired from a career in the US Air Force, Al served his country proudly during the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot, flying 243 rescue missions. A former Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Duncanville, Al served District 3 on the Duncanville City Council from 1994-1995. During his tenure, he was instrumental in bringing the Presbyterian Children’s Home to the city. A member of Duncanville’s First Baptist Church, Al was a Deacon Emeritus.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Patsy Avo Williams in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Tamara Jane Williams; children, Steven Leon Williams & wife, Sue of Round Rock, TX, Michael Ray Williams of Elk City, OK, Lynda Lea Higgs & husband Brian of Fort Worth, TX; step-children, Justin Paul Kulas of Plano, TX and Tara Renee Kulas of Duncanville; grandchildren, Avo Louise Higgs & Christina Williams; brother, O.H. Williams & wife, Eleanor of Cordell, OK; nieces, Cynthia Green, Sharon Kent & Cathy Buzzard; nephew, Roger Williams.
Funeral Service is 10:00 AM, Friday, March 24, 2006, at First Baptist Church, 323 W. Wheatland Rd., Duncanville. Burial will follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Capt. Williams served in the Vietnam War as a HH-43F pilot with Det. 1 & 10, 38th ARRS in the 1966-time frame.
