Robert Spendlove Wright, age 82, passed away on October 21, 2015 in St. George, Utah.
He was born on April 10, 1933 in Hinckley, UT, to Rodney A. Wright and Wynnie Rose Spendlove Wright. He married Carma Rae Ekins on January 26, 1956.
Robert attended grade school in Hinckley, UT; Santa Monica, CA and Lincolnwood, IL. He graduated from Hinckley High School in the spring of 1952. Robert joined the United States Air Force in April of 1972 after serving in both the Korean War in 1953 and the Vietnam War in 1968-69. He served as an aircraft mechanic, a helicopter flight engineer and as a helicopter instructor.
Robert graduated from Merced College in Merced, CA in the spring of 1965 while serving at Castle Air Force Base near Merced. After Robert retiring from the Air Force in 1972, he returned to Merced College and worked there in the science department until he retired from there and moved to Hurricane, UT in June 1991.
He liked the solitude of the mountains, hills and desert. He had a fondness for good music, quiet people and reality. He was a student of history, especially of the early American West. He took great pride in his family, his family history and his close lifetime relationship with his brothers.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; George Edward Wright and Rodney E. Wright. He is survived by his wife; Carma of Hurricane, UT, son; Kenneth Scott Wright, brothers: John H. Wright of Oak City, UT and Melvin R. Wright of Hinckley, UT; and four grandchildren living in Marysville, WA. Interment was held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
