Charles Herrmann

Charles was stationed at NKP with the 21st Special Operations Squadron from July 1968 thru June 1969……flying the CH-3E’s. For a good bit of the time his crew included Captain Sam Culp, co-pilot with SSgt James Moore and TSgt Donald Cramer as the flight engineers (and hoist operators and gunners). Charles says “It was a “great” crew in my estimation……and one reason why I survived my tour.”

My helicopter assignments included:

1958 – 1961, at Tyndall AFB , Panama City, FL. with the 4756th Drone Squadron on H-21’s, recovering Firebee drones from the Gulf of Mexico.

1961 – 1964, at Eielson AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska with the 5010th Air Base Wing on H-21’s for search and rescue.
