War on Terror
On this page we wish to document some of the many heroic acts performed by various Air Force Special Operations and Air Rescue members deployed in support of the war. If you have information of the many acts of bravery send it to us for posting here.
The war on terrorism in Southwest Asia involves Air Force Special Operations and Air Rescue helicopters. The MH-53 Pave Low and the HH-60G Pave Hawk are the helicopters the Air Force has deployed supporting the war on terrorism. Additionally Pararescue (PJs) support multi-service special operations.
The Pave Low's mission is low-level, long-range, undetected penetration into denied areas, day or night, in adverse weather, for infiltration, exfiltration and resupply of special operations forces.
The primary function of the Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk is to conduct day or night combat search and rescue (CSAR) operations into hostile environments to recover downed aircrew or other isolated personnel during war.
